Bad Luck....

If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all...true story! I broke the flash to my new camera my hubby bought me for my birthday (which was in February) and broke the camera in May. Camera still not fixed. Hubby was pissed. Now my net-book, again hubby bought me for Christmas 2010 is fried. So no more computer for me until I can sell a kidney to fix it or replace it. Hubby just gave me a dirty look being on his computer. I think he thinks I am going to do something to his laptop. Like I have a black cloud hanging over me...guess I do.

Too Many Necklaces.....

My daughter is turning 9 this week and boy is she growing up way to fast. She has started to wear costume necklaces a lot lately. I knew she needed a place to display them so she can QUICKLY get ready for school next month. I took a 24" piece of trim and painted it purple and sprayed painted gold cup hooks white.I measured a hook every 1/2" top then bottom.  My hubby then drilled pilot holes for me to screw in the hooks. That was the worst part, I got a blister. All that was left to do was hang it. My daughter loves it. And she is hoping to get more jewelry for her birthday.

Maui Chicken for the Slow Cooker

I absolutely love my slow cooker...I posted that I was making Maui Chicken for the family on Facebook the other day and everyone wanted the recipe. So I decided I would post about it. :)

It is a very easy recipe to follow and inexpensive too.

Our guest really enjoyed it. I layed it upon a cup of rice. And my friend brought over a Chocolate pie for dessert. Great Way to end the day! :)

Fun Friday

My daughter is a beginner sewing. She wanted so much to make her American Girl Doll Julie some clothes. We started out making a nightgown set. We purchased a pattern when they were on sale for $0.99  She loved picking out fabric and decided on a flannel cloud pattern. I taught her how to read the pattern and find the items we needed at Hobby Lobby. (my favorite store) We spent the day cutting and sewing.

After completing this project, I wouldn't recommend it as a first project. The pieces are so tiny that is was hard for her to stay on track. But in the end she is very happy with her completed project. We also had enough fabric to make her friend's doll a pillow case style pajamas set with the extra fabric.

Headband Holder

I came up with this idea for a headband holder when I saw how many headbands my daughter had and how they were spread on the floor of her bedroom getting broken.
I started out with a a pvc pipe purchased at Home Depot for aprox. $6 and I had left over fabric from another project for my daughter's room. I purchased a small block of white wood for aprox. $3 and bolts and screws. My husband then drilled two holes in the pvc pipe and the block of wood. I just made a slip cover for the pvc and slipped it over, I then screwed the block of wood into the pipe to use as a stand. I then trimmed the the ends of the fabric with pinking shears to stop it from fraying. I then just tied the ends off with very small clear plastic elastics.

This is the final project, My daughter loves it and so does her friends.

This is what is looks like everyday. LOL I told you she had a lot of headbands.

Super Hero Outfits...

My son had to have a Green Lantern outfit ASAP, we saw the movie for Father's Day...his auntie sent him the mask, ring and cuff. I quickly went to Hobby Lobby and purchased a greent-shirt for $1.50 (was on sale yeah me!) I went into my daughters dress up bin and found green and black pants and I got to work. My son loves the outfit.

I found this great and simple Superhero Cape Tutorial at Georgia Leigh Blog. I again went to work so my son could have a Batman and Superman reversible cape. The directions were very easy to understand. The pattern is free on her site but if you would like to purchase the pattern in pdf form you can visit her Etsy Shop. Just click on the link...Etsy Shop

My son loves it, he is more partial to the Bateman side than the Superman side. I guess we need to watch Superman movies for him to appreciate that super hero. :)

Summer Pop Fun

I came across this great idea for Freezer Pop Holders at a great BLOG http://www.bystephanielynn.com/  My son is going for surgery very soon to have his tonsils and adenoids taken out. Which means a lot of ice pops and very cold hands. I saw this project and went right to my fabric stash and whipped these Freezer Pop Holders in no time. My son and daughter couldn't wait to try them out for breakfast. :) Thank you Stephanie for the great idea.

Thank you gift for my daughter's teacher

I made this simple frame for my daughter's teacher and attached at gift card to a restaurant. I took a plain wooden frame from Wally World for $0.97 and spray painted it white. Then I hot glued crayons left over from the beginning of the school year at $0.25 a box. I used three boxes because I wanted to do the colors of the rainbow. But you can do any pattern or just random crayons. I think it came out good. Her teacher loved it.

Next time I will take before and after pictures. Still new to the blogging world.

Crazy Hair Day at School....

Well, my daughter is so very on top of things, NOT! She waits to the last minute to show me any paperwork from school or I have to go through her backpack to find it. So late last night I was reminded that today was crazy hair day at school. So I was up late researching crazy hair for school. And this is what I came up with. I just wished I had wire instead of pipe cleaners and black gel for her hair, but all and all I am HAPPY! And she is so excited to have a motorcycle on top of her head.

I got the idea because she wanted to wear her biker in training shirt, so why not put a motorcycle on top of her head. LOL :) :)

Look at the big smile! Can't wait for her to come home this afternnon and let me know what the kids and teachers thought of her crazy hair at school.

Karate Theme Bedroom

How I spent my Sunday afternoon. K's room needed a little more grown up look. My best friends, daughter K doesn't like anything too girlie and is really into Karate right now, K just received her orange belt the other day. Way to go K! Her mom and I found this awesome fabric awhile back at Joann Fabric. I think we got the fabric well before Christmas, oops! Better Late than Never, I say! So I finally made her valance, pillow case, a cover for her closet and comforter for her room.

The Pillowcase accented with K's favorite color orange...

The valance....complete with karate girls, K got for Christmas!

K's room is complete

Wordless Wednesday

What is Wordless Wednesday?
On Wednesdays all over the internet, bloggers post a photograph with no words to explain it on their blog. Hence the ‘wordless’ title. The idea is that the photo itself says so much that it doesn’t need any description.
